For some clients, residential home renovation comes about in response to property damage caused by flooding. As a Houston-based architecture firm, we’re deeply familiar with the devastating effects of flooding from storms and hurricanes.
On this particular project, this was an existing two-level residence in the Nassau Bay area. As a result of Hurricane Harvey, this waterfront property received nearly 8' of water. The owner hired ACS to renovate the entire residence, including not only an initial 12' lift, but also a mid-level lift to achieve a higher ceiling plate height.
The renovation included an exterior renovation for a new craftsman design, completely new floor plans for all three levels. The renovation also included new foundation, stairways, elevator, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing throughout. It is important when planning an extensive renovation/ house lift, that the design looks natural.
At ACS Architecture, we want to help homeowners protect their homes from future flood and storm damages by offering residential flood recovery and house raising services.
ACS will work with you and your contractor to select the appropriate building materials.
By elevating the foundation of your home and planning out the rest of the house to adapt to that increase in elevation, we can ensure your home will be better prepared for the next time your area floods.
